Le QuecumBarLe QuecumBar, 42 Battersea High Street, London SW11 3HX The Alexander/Robinson Guitar Duo play at Le QuecumBar generally once a month on a Saturday. It's advisable to book. Le QuecumBar is a bar and brasserie decorated and fitted out in the style of the kind of French bistro that Django Reinhardt would have frequented. Its soul beats to the four-in-the bar rhythm of Gypsy jazz and it has a fine, friendly atmosphere. Proprietor Sylvia Rushbrooke is a dedicated gypsy jazz fan and has converted this former pub on Battersea High Street into one of the most talked about live music venues in London. Its music programme centres on gypsy jazz, the guitar and the violin and people come from as far as the West Country and the Midlands just to enjoy its unique ambience and excellent music. Simply enjoy a drink as you listen - an educated wine list and erudite draught Stella - or, si vous avez faim, select something light or substantial from the brasserie menu - perhaps a dish of French mussels or an Oriental platter. It's a good idea to reserve a table in advance if you plan to eat (020 7787 2227), but you are equally welcome just to prop up the bar! How to get to Le Quecumbar: Train: The nearest BR station is Clapham Junction Bus: Car: Free on-street parking. Because of the one-way system it's best to enter Battersea High Street from the end nearest the river. The road sign says "Access Only" but that's ok - Access is what you want. Click here for a map.
